[various] three-sentence fics

Collection of three-sentence fics I wrote for [livejournal.com profile] caramelsilver's three-sentence ficathon.

[livejournal.com profile] lizzie_marie_23: fairytales, Rapunzel, in the wilderness

Sometimes in the evening, after the children had gone to bed, she would remember the flash of his eyes and the hushed passion of his voice, speaking of promises and freedom and distant lands. She remembered that she'd loved him once, had wanted to see the world beyond the high tower and its cold, unfeeling walls. But that was before she'd learned the world had thorns and that humans could bleed; now she couldn't help but wonder if it was all worth it.

[livejournal.com profile] silvr_dagger: Final Fantasy VII, Tifa (&/ any), city lights

The travelers at the inn often called it the City of Lights, the place of dreams and golden opportunities.

After waking up in Midgar, it only takes Tifa two days to decide that all those travelers were filthy liars, because how can this grimy, suffocating place be the famed city of opportunity, where people can make something of themselves?

A few years later, she realizes that maybe she was too quick to judge when one of her patrons, a big man named Barret, leans across the bar and says to her, "So whaddya say, you in?"

[livejournal.com profile] silvr_dagger: Final Fantasy VII, Rufus Shinra (/& any), power doesn't run on nothing

To rule, you had to be ruthless and ambitious; you had to want power, to know that you were the only one capable of wielding it.

Rufus didn't have to step aside; even bedridden, he had the knowledge, the resources, and the ambition to rebuild his toppled empire, to take the smoking remains of his father's legacy and remake it in his own image.

Yes, he was cold enough, sharp enough to do it -- but he'd never been one for self-deception, and after Meteorfall, he could no longer claim he knew what was best.
